10-Year-Old vs. 20-Year-Old vs. XO Armagnac: What's the Difference?
A 10-year-old Armagnac is vibrant, fruity, and direct — ideal for discovery. A 20-year-old Armagnac has gained roundness and complexity while retaining its freshness. An XO or Hors d'âge Armagnac (minimum 10 years, often much more) is a blend of several years selected for their harmony — a different style from a vintage.
What is the price of a 10-year-old Armagnac?
Generally, expect to pay between €35 and €70 for a 70cl bottle. This is the entry-level for vintage Armagnacs, accessible and already of excellent quality.
Does a 10-year-old Armagnac continue to age in the bottle?
No. Once bottled, Armagnac no longer evolves. The 10 years refer solely to the aging in oak barrels.
