Armagnac Domaine de Charron
Authentic cask strength vintages, from the tawny sands of Bas-Armagnac — from 1985 to the present day, each bottle is hand-bottled in the cellar at its natural aging strength.
An exceptional terroir: the tawny sands of Bas-Armagnac
The Domaine de Charron's vines thrive on the tawny sands of Bas-Armagnac — these sandy, clay-siliceous soils, colored by iron oxides, born from the meeting of land and sea which only receded at the end of the Tertiary period. This unique terroir forges the personality and pride of each vintage.
Cask strength: an uncompromising philosophy
At Domaine de Charron, there is no reduction, no added water, no sugar, no coloring. Each eau-de-vie is placed in new 420-liter oak barrels immediately after leaving the still — barrels crafted by Gilles Bartholomo, one of the last artisanal coopers in the region in Le Frêche (Landes). In the earthen-floor cellar, each vintage is stirred, aerated, and moved over the years under the orchestration of the cellar master. Bottling is done by hand, as orders come in, at the natural aging degree — frozen on the label at the bottling date.
A century-old still since 2012
While distillation has been carried out with a mobile still on the property since 1985, Domaine de Charron has owned its own still dating from 1940 since 2012. Distillation is carried out continuously, in a traditional wood-fired Armagnac copper still. The eau-de-vie leaves the still between 52° and 53°, ready to offer its share to the angels for many years.
