AOC Maury Map

The Maury Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée delineates a region nestled between two Urgonian limestone mountains, extending over hills of black schistous marl soils from the Albian age, adjoining the commune of Maury and the north of the Agly valley.

This vineyard covers 1150 hectares for a production of 7000 hectoliters per year, with a low yield strategy (26hl/ha) to achieve the necessary sweetness for VDN.

It has a Mediterranean climate, tempered by rainfall of up to 700 mm and slightly cooler temperatures in the westernmost part of the region.
The main wind, the Tramontane, blows strongly there more than one day out of three.

Wines from the Maury appellation are primarily made from Grenache Noir, Carignan, and Syrah grape varieties for red wines, as well as Grenache Blanc and Gris, Maccabeu, and Muscat for white wines.
