70-Year-Old Armagnac: The 1956 Vintage According to CAP Vintage
1956, a Vintage of Absolute Rarity
The 1956 vintage is one of the rarest of the 20th century: the great frost of February 1956 devastated a large part of the Gascon vineyard, drastically reducing production volumes. The few barrels that survived yielded, after 70 years of aging, Armagnacs of extraordinary complexity and depth: notes of tobacco, coffee, old leather, cocoa, and candied fruits, with an interminable finish.
The Producers of Our 1956 Selection
- Jean Cavé – Two expressions: classic vintage and Cask Strength, Bas-Armagnac
- Veuve Lafontan & ses Enfants – Historic family estate, Bas-Armagnac
