1929 Armagnac – 97 Years Old, Born in the Year of the Crash and the First Oscars Ceremony

The Oscars are born, Fats Waller sings Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Black Thursday on October 24th plunges the world into the Great Depression. Our 1929 Armagnacs, after 97 years of aging in Gascon oak barrels, were born at the turning point between the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression — nearly century-old treasures of historical depth.

1929 Armagnac: distilled in the year of Black Thursday, the first Oscars, and Ain't Misbehavin'

1929 - the year that shattered the dream of the Roaring Twenties. On October 24th, Black Thursday struck Wall Street: a catastrophic stock market crash that plunged the entire world into the Great Depression - millions of unemployed, banks closing, a decade of misery. In May, the first Oscars ceremony was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel - 15 minutes of awards, no speeches, only 270 guests: the greatest cinema ceremony was born in discretion. In Harlem, the African-American Renaissance reached its peak: Fats Waller composed "Ain't Misbehavin'," which immediately became an eternal jazz standard, the anthem of an entire era. Sound film firmly established itself that year, sounding the death knell for silent movies and marking the birth of a new artistic era. In Gascony, winemakers distilled before the economic cataclysm that would follow - unaware that these casks would survive the Great Depression, two world wars, and 97 years of history. After 97 years of aging in Gascon oak barrels, the 1929 Armagnacs are approaching a century: rancio of almost centennial intensity, deep incense, concentrated dried fruits, noble spices. Pieces of absolute rarity and nobility.
