1945 - the year that ended the deadliest war in history. On May 8th, Nazi Germany surrendered unconditionally: it was V-E Day, Victory in Europe. In Gascony, the winemakers who survived distilled in a surge of joy and relief - the casks filled that year carry within them all the strength of newfound freedom. In August, atomic bombs fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki: the Pacific War ended, but humanity entered the nuclear age. The UN was founded in October in San Francisco. In cinema, Marcel Carné's *Les Enfants du Paradis* finally reached Parisian screens - filmed clandestinely under the Occupation with hundreds of extras, this absolute masterpiece of French cinema was culture's response to barbarism. On the airwaves, Charles Trenet recorded "La Mer" - the most famous and most covered French song in the world, born on a train between Montpellier and Perpignan. After 81 years of aging in Gascon oak casks, 1945 Armagnacs offer an aromatic profile of historical depth and nobility: ultra-candied prunes, deep rancio, incense, mature vanilla, and an endless finish.
