1897: The Birth of a Pioneering House
Léonce Lafontan (1865–1939), a horse trader turned winegrower, founded Maison Lafontan in 1897, one of the first to market Armagnac in bottles. His intimate knowledge of the region allowed him to carefully select the best old Armagnacs from the most renowned crus. In 1904, he created the Veuve Lafontan & ses Enfants range in tribute to his late mother.
Four Generations Dedicated to Armagnac
Georges Lafontan (1902–1967), a passionate rugby player, continued the tradition with generosity and conviviality, solidifying the brand's reputation. Jean Paul Lafontan then skillfully ensured continuity, respecting the savoir-faire inherited from two generations of distillers. Since 1988, Véronique Lafontan — daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter of this lineage — has been the "Memory Bearer" of this百年-old house, bringing her tasting sensibility to the blends.
A Feminine Touch and Gascon Roots
The Lafontan family has never left Bas Armagnac, still living in the heart of this vineyard, which allows them to keep the memory of their ancestors alive. In 2008, Béatrice Mandon joined the company, extending this tradition of excellence and femininity.
The CAP Vintage Selection
