Armagnac 1973 Darroze

A lover of his South-West and its ancient tradition, this cult chef of Landes gastronomy initiated his son Francis to the culinary art, to great wines, to fine Gascon brandies. It is by cultivating this taste for tradition, for authenticity, that Francis Darroze, by traveling with his father, an experienced and demanding oenophile, through this famous Bas-Armagnac terroir and by tasting hidden treasures in the depths of small estates, became a true scout for proprietor Armagnacs.

The first discoveries date back to the 50s & 60s, then intensified from the 1970s with the construction of a cellar specifically dedicated to aging.

His son Marc, an oenologist by training, followed in his footsteps in 1996. Both complementary, both “treasure hunters”, as Martine Nouet called them in her book “Eaux-de-vie: le guide”, they have crisscrossed the lands of Armagnac all these years in search of this liquid gold that they offer you.

Treasure hunters first by taste, but also to satisfy a loyal clientele looking for quality brandies, they were together discoverers of Armagnacs. Today, Marc Darroze alone oversees the company, Francis Darroze having taken a well-deserved active retirement. He continues the work of guardian, sometimes antique dealer, initiated by his father to make these treasures accessible to us.
