Armagnac 1979 Darroze

A lover of his South-West and its ancient tradition, this cult chef of Landes gastronomy initiated his son Francis to culinary art, to great wines, to fine Gascon brandies. It is by cultivating this taste for tradition, for authenticity, that Francis Darroze, by exploring this famous Bas-Armagnac terroir with his father, a connoisseur and demanding oenophile, and by tasting treasures hidden deep within small estates, became a true discoverer of Armagnacs from private owners.

The first discoveries date back to the 1950s & 60s, then intensified from the 1970s with the construction of a cellar specifically dedicated to aging.

His son Marc, a trained oenologist, followed in his footsteps in 1996. Both complementary, both "treasure hunters", as Martine Nouet nicknamed them in her book "Eaux-de-vie: le guide", they have traveled the lands of Armagnac all these years in search of this liquid gold that they offer you.

Treasure hunters first out of taste, but also to satisfy a loyal clientele in search of quality brandies, they were together discoverers of Armagnacs. Today, Marc Darroze alone oversees the company, Francis Darroze having taken a well-deserved active retirement. He continues the work of guardian, sometimes of initiated antiquarian, begun by his father to make these treasures accessible to us.
