Armagnac 1987 Domaine de Charron – Cask Strength 46.7° | Sables Fauves | 39 years old

Harvested in 1987 from the "sables fauves" (tawny sands) of Bas-Armagnac, this vintage has aged for 39 years in new 420-litre oak barrels, crafted by Gilles Bartholomo, one of the last artisan coopers in the region of Le Frêche (Landes). Placed in new barrels immediately after distillation, the brandy is aerated and moved over the years in the earthen-floored cellar. Bottled at natural cellar strength — 46.7° cask strength. Offered in a 70cl Oslo bottle.

Tasting Profile

Color: Bright and clear.
Nose: Undergrowth, then cooked yellow fruits with spices (clove) — complex and evolved.
Palate: Direct, supple, fine, and balanced, very rancio, smoky tea aromas.
Finish: Extremely long. Magnificent, distinctive brandy.
