A lover of his South-West and its age-old tradition, this cult chef of Landes gastronomy initiated his son Francis to the culinary art, to great wines, to fine Gascon brandies. It was by cultivating this taste for tradition, for authenticity, that Francis Darroze, by traveling with his father, a knowledgeable and demanding oenophile, through this famous terroir of Bas-Armagnac and tasting treasures hidden deep in small estates, became a true discoverer of owner-produced Armagnacs.
The first discoveries date back to the 1950s & 60s, then intensified from the 1970s with the construction of a cellar specifically dedicated to aging.
