A lover of his South-West and its age-old tradition, this cult chef of Landaise gastronomy initiated his son Francis to the culinary art, great wines, and fine Gascon eaux-de-vie. It was by cultivating this taste for tradition and authenticity that Francis Darroze, exploring this famous Bas-Armagnac terroir with his father, a discerning and demanding oenophile, and tasting hidden treasures at the bottom of small estates, became a true discoverer of propriétaire Armagnacs.
The first discoveries date back to the 1950s & 60s, then intensified from the 1970s with the construction of a cellar specifically dedicated to aging.
His son Marc, an oenologist by training, followed in his footsteps in 1996. Both complementary, both "treasure hunters", as Martine Nouet called them in her book "Eaux-de-vie: le guide", they have traveled the lands of Armagnac all these years in search of this liquid gold that they offer you.
Treasure hunters first out of taste, but also to satisfy a loyal clientele looking for quality eaux-de-vie, they were together discoverers of Armagnacs. Today, Marc Darroze alone oversees the company, Francis Darroze having taken a well-deserved active retirement. He continues the work of guardian, sometimes initiated by his father as an enlightened antique dealer, to make these treasures accessible to us.
