Tasting Notes

Served well chilled, Vin Sauvage Monluc is traditionally enjoyed as an aperitif. It also forms the base of the famous Pousse Rapière cocktail, when combined with Château Monluc's Pousse Rapière Liqueur.

Production

For this sparkling brut, base wines are first produced from the white grape varieties Ugni-Blanc and Gros Manseng. The different batches are aged, tasted, and then blended to form the cuvée. This is then bottled with yeast and sugar liqueur for a second fermentation in the bottle, which creates the bubbles. The yeasts are then removed by disgorgement, before the addition of the dosage liqueur to bring it back to level.

Vin Sauvage Monluc, a jewel of Gascony

An emblematic product of Château de Monluc, located in Saint-Puy in the Gers region, Vin Sauvage embodies five generations of expertise. The estate, rooted in the Armagnac tradition, was the birthplace of the famous Pousse Rapière and remains a pioneer of traditional method wines in the department.

The Pousse Rapière cocktail recipe

Pour one measure of Pousse Rapière Liqueur into a flute, then top up with well-chilled Vin Sauvage Monluc. Serve immediately, optionally with an orange peel, for an authentic Gascon aperitif.
