The Terroir of the AOC RIVESALTES
AOC Rivesaltes is a Vin Doux Naturel (fortified sweet wine) produced in Roussillon and part of the Corbières region.
The vineyards extend across the two departments of Pyrénées Orientales and Aude.
This Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée has been recognized since 1972.
The soils found in the production area of AOC RIVESALTES are very varied: granitic and black schist soils, limestone near the Corbières massifs, stony along the waterways that cross the territory (the Têt, the Agly, and the Tech), granitic and black schist soils in the Agly valley.
Grape Varieties of the AOC
The main grape varieties of AOC RIVESALTES are Grenache (noir, gris, blanc), and Macabeu. Malvoisie and Muscat (of Alexandria and Petits Grains) grape varieties can also be found.
Rivesaltes wines are made in red or white.
The quality mentions ''Ambré'', ''Grenat'', ''Tuilé'', ''Hors d'Age'' or ''Rancio'' are given depending on the grape varieties used and the type of aging carried out.
Some Rivesaltes Vins Doux Naturels have exceptional aging potential. In our selection, we offer old vintage Rivesaltes of unique quality, dating back to 1875.
